Welcome to Nice !

J&R at the panorama St_Jeannet_2.JPG

Bonjour !

We are a Franco-British couple who have lived in Nice for the past twenty years. For me, it was a homecoming since I was born and grew up here. My wife who had loved Nice for holidays, was delighted to enjoy all year round swimming in the Mediterranean, and accompanying me on hikes in the mountains behind Nice which are renowned for their exceptional flora and fauna and breathtaking panoramas.

We will be pleased to welcome you to our apartment and share our tips for our favourite spots off the beaten tourist track and restaurants for delicious home-cooked local specialities.

Chez Nous

This spacious, sunny apartment is brilliantly located, whether you are in Nice to learn French and enjoy the cultural heritage, for business, or to simply relax. A short walk takes you into the very heart of Nice, to the Nice Étoile shopping mall or the Promenade des Anglais and the beaches on the Bay of Angels (the best place on the coast to swim !), to the main train station and to bus and tram links,. Pleasant tree-lined streets for a good selection of boutiques and restaurants, parks and children's play areas, open air markets, museums, the Opera House, arthouse cinemas and the lively Old Town, are all within easy access by foot.

One of eight apartments in the wing of a 1926 palais niçois, this upper floor apartment is attractively designed with high ceilings and tall French windows for lots of light.

Recently entirely renovated, it's original character and special decorative features have been thoughtfully preserved - stucco ceilings, blond oak parquet and Italian marble terrazzo flooring.

About Nice

Nice is a vibrant, beautiful city with a colourful history. Not so many visitors are aware that for 500 years the County of Nice was part of the Royal House of Savoy which stretched from Chambéry (now in France), across to Turin (now in Italy) and down to the Mediterranean sea. It has been part of France for a mere 160 years.

Nice had been a well kept secret by a few wealthy British families who had discovered it as early as the 1760's as a wonderful place to escape to during the winter months away from the damp and smog of the North. In the mid-nineteenth century Nice became a hugely fashionable winter holiday destination for the rich and famous from all over Europe. The town was developed massively to accommodate visitors, hence the wonderful heritage left from the Belle-Epoque (1860-1914), and then again after the First World War, in the 1920's and 1930's when summer holidays at the sea-side became the rage.

That, together with the fact that the natural setting of the French Riviera is breathtakingly gorgeous, explains why Nice feels so unique and has much to offer visitors.
